Sad day in Radio (Pointed out by kurichan)
Some of you have probably heard about the infamous “Tsunami Song” aired by Hot’97, a NYC RnB radio station. If you haven’t, let me enlighten you. Basically it’s a skit making fun of everyone who was killed or caught up in the recent Tsunami. It makes fun of Asians in general as well.
Here are the choice lyrics that are floating around everywhere:
- “All at once you could hear the screaming ch*nks and no one was safe from the wave there were africans drowning, little chinamen swept away you could hear god laughing, ‘swim you b*tches swim'”
- “So now you’re screwed, it’s the Tsunami, you better run or kiss your ass away, go find your mommy, I just saw her float by, a tree went through her head, and now the children will be sold to child slavery…”
I personally don’t even see how they can get away with that even as a joke. What could make them want to do something so heartless? It’s so beyond me. Either way, you can read more or sign petitions here.
Hot 97 has an official statement as well.
Searching google for the tsunami song also shows more flame being directed in their direction. I doubt they’ll be doing this again. Hopefully nobody will do something like thig again… but the way the world is headed, I won’t hold my breath.
